Thomas Macho
Biography: Thomas Macho (*1952 in Wien) has held the chair for Cultural History at the Seminar for Cultural Sciences of Humboldt University in Berlin since 1993. From 1970 to 1975, he studied philosophy, musicology and pedagogy at the University of Vienna; in 1976 he was awarded his doctorate after completing a thesis entitled "On the dialectics of the musical piece of art"; in 1984, he was habilitated after completing his post-doctoral thesis on "Death metaphors" for his philosophical studies. University assistant from 1976 to 1984, then university docent for philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Klagenfurt; from 1987 to 1992, Head of the Study Centre for Peace Research in Stadtschlaining (Burgenland); 1993 he was called to teach as guest professor at the University of Klagenfurt, at the School of Design in Linz, and at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Training in Vienna.
